How Porcelain Veneers Can Improve Your Smile

Everybody notices a beautiful smile and everyone would love to have that for their own smile too.
Porcelain Veneers Auckland Dentists If your teeth are not perfectly even, if they have been damaged in some way, or if you have excessive gaps in your smile, then a solution is maybe not so far away.
Porcelain has long been linked with beauty. From the exquisite porcelain ballerina figurines to the elegance of that traditional tea set, porcelain is widely known for its strength and quality, in whatever it is applied to.
It is no surprise therefore to learn of how porcelain is now being used to create a beautiful smile of brilliant whiteness.
By applying porcelain veneers to the surface of your teeth, any irregularities, gaps or discolouration can be replaced with your own perfect smile.

What other veneers are there?
You are not only limited to porcelain as there are alternative composite veneers or laminates available. These composite veneers have different qualities to porcelain, such as potentially being more susceptible to staining over time.
If you choose the porcelain veneers however, your teeth will remain much brighter and will even reflect light more like your real teeth do, giving that more natural look to your smile.

How many trips to the dentist do I need for veneers?
Having veneers fitted will take more than one visit to the dentist. You will firstly need to have a consultation where the decisions are made as to whether porcelain veneers are suitable and which type might be best for you.
This will be followed by the initial preparation of the teeth for the application of veneers, although they will not be actually fitted at this time as they have yet to be made for you.
Once the preparation of the tooth surface is complete, impressions will be taken from which the veneers will be moulded.
It can take around 2 weeks for the veneers to be made although your dentist will advise on this. Once they are completed you will then return for the final fitting and for any adjustment that is necessary.
At this point, you should be good to go, but it is not a bad idea to return to your dental practice a couple of weeks later for a final check to make sure everything has settled nicely.

How long does it take to get veneers fitted?
It normally takes approximately 2 weeks to get the veneers fitted, however if time is a concern to you, we can always sort it out when you come in for your veneers consultation. Just remember to let us know your thought beforehand and leave the rest to us. On the day of the preparation, we will make sure that you go out from our dental practice like the way you first came in, which means we will be putting temporary veneers on while waiting for the final veneers to be made. Although it may not look perfectly perfect, at least, it can do the job for the time being and you can still smile in confidence without needing to worry about the look of your teeth after the preparation appointment.
